Does what happens abroad stay abroad? Displaced aggression and emotional regulation in expatriate psychological contracts

The effects of psychological contract violation are the subject considerable research. Yet, their in work arrangements with more than two parties largely unknown. Multi-party differ from traditional ones because individuals may be vulnerable to breach and by one party, potentially directing negative emotional responses not only towards responsible party but also displacing it other (innocent) party. Primary data a two-wave survey 221 current expatriates is used test displaced aggression emotion regulation multi-party contracts. We find that emotions (violation experiences) associated predict reduced commitment both perpetrating organization innocent However, this spillover effect asymmetric follows aggregation theory: Expatriates displace aggressive behaviour on host when home violated contract, reverse.
